HS Roundup: South lacrosse teams win; BG baseball on top

Thursday didn’t have many high school games on the docket, but it had plenty of winners.
First, it was a bounce back day for the Nashua High School South boys lacrosse team, which followed up its first loss earlier this week with a win over Manchester Memorial-Central. The South girls also stayed unbeaten.
It was also a winning day for Bishop Guertin baseball, Alvirne boys and Merrimack girls tennis teams.
Here’s the rundown:
BOYS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 8, MANCHESER MEMORIAL-CENTRAL 2
The Panthers improved to 3-1 with four goals by Nate Campbell and two goals and two assists from Griffin Johnson.
Also helping out were Connor Rowsell (goal, two assists), Brady Swisher (goal), Rhett Medling (two assists) and Cody Goode (two assists).
Ethan Johnson (six saves) and Brady McGadden (two) split time in goal for the Panthers, who host Concord Saturday at Stellos at 10 a.m.
CONCORD 15, NASHUA NORTH 5
The Titans (0-4) kept battling on the road as Jack Peters had four goals and Alex Jankerson a single tally. Devyn Lavoie had five saves in goal.
North hosts Merrimack at Stellos today at 4.
GIRLS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 13, CONCORD 5
Leading the way for the Panthers at Stellos Stadium were Ella Benzekri (three goals, two assists, six draw controls), Maddy Matylewski (three goals), Kaitlyn West (two goals, two assists), Maren Lowell (two goals, four draw controls), Karina O’Donnell (goal, assist, 2 CTO) and Morgan Uzdanovich and Bella Walsh (one goal each).
Keira Walsh had three saves in net for South with defensive help in front by
Bailey Carroll, Vanessa Reeder, and Soleil Dubois.
South is on the road today to face Concord (1-3) again today.
KEENE-MONADNOCK 11, NASHUA NORTH 10
The Titans had a close loss on the road to fall to 2-3. North is right back at it again today at Merrimack at 5 p.m.
BASEBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 9, SALEM 4
Dominic Monico got the win on the mound for the 4-1 Cards at Holman Stadium, going six innings allowing two runs on two hits while striking out five. Evan Kaplo led the offense going 3 for 3 with a homer, two runs, four RBIs and a stolen base, along with Max Riordan (2 for 3, run, stolen base) and Kam Thibault (RBI double, run scored).
BG plays 4-0 Portsmouth on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Holman Stadium.
CONVAL 4, MILFORD 1
Spartan sophomore Mike Lima pitched a complete game in defeat in his first varsity start, giving up five hits and striking out three.
Jake Lammi and Chris Bedard both had hits for the Spartans (0-5), with Bedard hitting an RBI double.
The Spartan defense also played well. Milford is now off until May 2 when it visits Bow.
SOFTBALL
OYSTER RIVER 8, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5
Austyn Kump struck out 10 to increase her career total to 215, and also added an RBI to give the Cavaliers a silver lining. Meg Park had a two-run single while Ava Imbrogno had a two-run double
BOYS TENNIS
ALVIRNE 5, WINNACUNNET 4
The Broncos got big wins by Caleb Lambert at No. 4 singles (8-0) and the No. 2 doubles team of Lambert and Anthony Ferullo (8-5) to improve to 3-4 before the vacation break.
Peyton Meuse (8-0) and Ashton Meuse (8-0) won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles and teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.
Alvirne is at Manchester Memorial on May 2.
GIRLS TENNIS
MERRIMACK 9, SPAULDING 0
The Tomahawks got their second straight win with a sweep. Singles winners from top to bottom were Shu Grosso 8-1, Katie Costa (8-1), Emily Winefield (8-1), Jessica Harden (8-0), Colette Hutchinson (8-3) and Jordan. Zebuhr (8-0).
The teams of Grosso/Winefield (8-0), Costa/Harden (8-1) and Hutchinson/Sarah Zebuhr (8-1) all won as well.
Merrimack hopes to make it three in a row before the break today at Manchester Memorial.
