Elizabeth Stapelfeld, who averaged over 20 points a game all season for the Hollis Brookline girls basketball team, was named as the Division II Player of the Year.
Stapelfeld, a senior who next year will play for St. Joseph’s of Maine, was honored by the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization (NHBCO), who released their Division I and II All-State teams Sunday night. Nashuatelegraph.com will publish those complete teams later this week, but Stapelfeld wasn’t the only local to grab top honors.
Nashua North boys hoop coach Steve Lane was named the Division I Coach of the Year while Souhegan boys coach Peter Pierce was named Division II boys Coach of the Year.
In Sunday’s other event, the Hollis Brookline-Derryfield hockey team kept rolling with a win over Kennett, which is remarkable since the Warriors went unbeaten in a three-game weekend.

The Warriors defensive unit had another impressive night in front of goalie Cavan Quinn, who stopped 22 out of 24 shots.
The Warriors head out on the road to face Monadnock-Fall Mountain on Wednesday.
