CHAMPIONS! Cavalier girls win Division II swimming
This time, it’s the Cavaliers’ time.
The Hollis Brookline High School girls swim team, after finishing second to Hanover a year ago, turned the tables on the Marauders and captured the NHIAA Division II swimming championship at the Salem Workout Club Saturday.
The Cavaliers edged Hanover, 213-209. Oyster River was third at 156.5.
Locally, Souhegan was ninth with 48 points while Milford was 16th with 12.5.
In the boys race, Souhegan was the top local team, finishing fourth (130.5) Hanover was victorious with 210 points, and Oyster River was a distant second and Windham (138) third. Locally Milford was seventh (64) and Hollis Brookline ninth (46).
HB’s Cambria Jewett won the 100 back in 57.82 seconds, was third in the 200 free. Isabela Bobocca won the 100 free in 55.84 seconds.
The Cavs also won the 200 yard medley relay; their 200 free relay finished third while the 400 free relay was second.
HB also got valuable points with Gabriella Rizzuto and Teah-Lou Morel taking fourth and fifth in the 200 yard IM. Mackenzie Talbot was fourth in the 500 free while Elanor Cunanan took third in the 100 back and 50 free, and Rizzuto was third in the 100 breast.
Souhegan’s Braelyn Wilson captured the 50 free in 24.68 seconds and was third in the 100 fly.
In the boys race, Souhegan’s 200 yard medley relay as well as 200 free relay teams were second. Saber Ed Barnes was second in the 200 free as well as the 500 free while Joshua Dion was second in the 100 fly and third in the 100 back. Saber Hunter Daily was fifth in the 100 breast.
HB’s Dylan Jewett captured the 100-yard back in 53.53, and was third in the 100 breast.
Milford’s Noah McCandless was fifth in the 50 free while Josh Anderson was seventh in the 200 free.
