HS Roundup: Murray paces BG girls; North wrestlers fall

The Bishop Guertin High School girls basketball team loves a challenge out of state, and Thursday night the Cards met it, topping La Salle Academy in Providence, R.I.
Meanwhile, it was a tough night for the Merrimack boys basketball team, which dropped another close game, this time to Windham, and for the Nashua North wrestlers, who fell at Concord.
Here are the details as now the action takes a break for the holiday weekend until Monday:
GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Cards improved to 4-0 thanks to 18 points from Liv Murray and 15 by Catelyn Wheeler. Brooke Paquette and Hannah Lynch added nine.
The Cards suffered some early foul trouble, namely Lynch and Paquette, “but we got great contributions from the bench to hold our lead when those two went out,” Cards coach Brad Kreick said, noting that Kte Daley and Madeline Malo played key roles off the bench with some big minutes.
Guertn travels to Half Moon, N.Y. next week to play in a holiday tournament.
BOYS BASKETBALL
WINDHAM 61,
MERRIMACK 58
It was a another close, competitive loss for the Tomahawks, who fell to 1-4, despite outscoring Windham 17-8 in the final quarter. Jack Tarleton had 21 and Kobe Pimentel 19 point for the locals.
The ‘Hawks get back to league play after the break Jan. 3 at home vs. Timberlane.
WRESTLING
CONCORD 58,
NASHUA NORTH 12
Matt Oliver picked up a win by fall at 113 and Andrew Frye won by fall at 145 for the Titans’ only points. Finn Mullaly wrestled to a tough 11-7 loss by decision at 152, as did Jesse Rutstein (8-3) and Kole Ducharme (12-5) at 120 and 160, respectively.
MERRIMACK SPLITS (Wednesday)
The Tomahawks on Wednesday took a close loss to Spaulding, 42-40 in Rochester, while beating Exeter, 51-18 in Rochester.
In the Spaulding match, the Red Raiders got a forfeit at 220 and won at 285 to grab the tight win. Tomahawk triumphs came from Anthony Almonte at 113 (15-3 decision), Emily Angelo by fall at 126, Cooper Carlson at 160 (also a pin), Brendan Curly at 170 (pin), and Aiden Ward at 195 (pin).
In the Exeter match, Almonte won 8-2 at 113, Angelo had a pin at 126, Mitchell Krupp by fall at 138, Adam Cummings at 145 by fall, Curly at 170, and Ward at 195.
