Wrestling Roundup: South’s Langlois gets milestone win

Nashua North wasn’t the only team to wrestle on Wednesday night as the 2020-21 season began in earnest, and with a milestone as well.
Nashua South coach Adam Langlois picked up his 150th career victory in the Panthers three-point win over Windham.
Bishop Guertin, Merrimack, Milford and Hollis Brookline also picked up wins.
Here’s a look at a busy opening night:
NASHUA SOUTH 36,
WINDHAM 33
The Panthers gave Langlois that milestone victory thanks to Connor Comeau’s pin in the final match at 285 pounds to cap an 18 point comeback. Other pins were by John Cullerton at 126, Anthony Fernandez (132), Connor Williams (152), and Andrew Lovell (195), plus a forfeit win awarded to Andre Convery at 220. Those last three wins (including Comeau’s) rallied the Panthers from a 33-18 deficit.
BISHOP GUERTIN 66,
SPAULDING 18
It was a pinfest for the defending Division II champion Cardinals in their opener. Colin Foley (113), Liam Chapman (132), Luke Kourkoulakos (138), Will Murphy (160), Liam O’Keefe (170), Matt Ha (182), James Murphy (195), Charlie Bellavance (220) and Zach Connerty (285) all won by fall. BG also picked up forfeits at 120 and 145.
MERRIMACK 57,
PORTSMOUTH 16
Merrimack got pins by Connor Williams at 285, Grant Descheneaux at 132, Adam Cummings at 145, Cooper Carlson at 160, Brendan Curley at 170 and Anthony Lesmerises at 182. Emily Angelo picked up a 13-6 decision at 126.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 72,
SOUHEGAN 12
The Cavaliers enjoyed pins from Caden Bruseo (113 pounds), Caleb Wilder (120), Jasom DeJoie (132), Hunter Crea (138), Colin McGarry (145), R.J. McAdams (152), Luke Wang (170), Ethan Bender (182) and Ethan Strauss (285).
The Cavs will see the Sabers again in Amherst Saturday in the Milford/Souhegan Invitational.
MILFORD 33,
GOFFSTOWN 31
The Spartans picked up a tight opening night triumph thanks to match wins by Kyle Lajoie, Tyler Bertolomucci, Evan O’Connell, Greg Gagnon, Noah Kittredge and Ben Kilgore.
They’ll be back at it Saturday in their invitational tourney co-hosted by Souhegan.
