It wasn’t a great night for the rest of the local football teams that ended their seasons as Nashua South, Alvirne, Merrimack and Hollis Brookline all went down in lopsided losses.
Here’s a look, plus note the twist in the Division I football unofficial playoff matchups:
KEENE 30,
NASHUA SOUTH 6
Jarred Rokes rushed for 136 yards and Austin Morris ran for 130 as the Blackbirds led 14-0 at halftime and never looked back.
The Panthers almost closed the gap before the half as Jake O’Connor took a pitch from QB Karsten Lemire and tossed it 41 yards to Connor Rowsell to the Keene 3, but the Panthers next play went for a loss as time ran out.
Josh Compoh closed out his high school career with a 74-yard kickoff return to make it 22-6 in the third quarter.
The Panthers wrap up the season at 3-6, while Keene finished a surprising 5-4 but still missed the playoffs.
PINKERTON 43,
ALVIRNE 20
The Broncos ended their season winless at 0-8 but had a good night from sophomore back Bryant Montgomery, who rushed for 111 yards while Colin Fay, Anthony Ferulo and Alvir Thumi each had a TD reception.
The Astros finished the regular season 7-2 and will likely play Londonderry in the Division I quarterfinals. Although the Astros had a better record (7-2) than Salem (6-2), Salem finished with a better point rating (13.5 to 13.1)
SALEM 54,
MERRIMACK 14
The Tomahawks wrap up a tough season at 3-6 as the fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter and couldn’t recover.
Kyle Crampton tossed a 10-yard TD pass to Shea Goodwin and ran 6 yards for another score. Tommy Ahlers ran for TDs of 40, 68 and 40 for the Blue Devils, who ended up 6-2 and will likely visit Bishop Guertin next Saturday in the Division I quarterfinals.
HANOVER 42,
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Cavaliers were competitive a week ago against another Divison II contender, St. Thomas, but not so on Friday night in Hollis as they end their season at 2-7.
The Marauders end up at 6-3 and the win should give them a Division II playoff berth.
