HS Roundup: O’Day has a day for Titans; BG girls lax wins

Thursday was a day for continuing streaks, such as the Bishop Guertin girls lacrosse team’s win in the rematch with Bedford, and ending them, as Nashua North baseball snapped a four game losing streak.

Here’s what we know from an extremely busy day:

BASEBALL

NASHUA NORTH 11,

LONDONDERRY 1

(Six innings)

Corey O’Day had a day for the Titans, checking the Lancers on one earned run with just three hits, striking out six over six innngs at Holman Stadium.

But that’s not all, as the Titans improved to 5-7. O’Day also went 3 for 3 at the late with two RBIs and two runs scored. Liam Novak also had a spectacular day at the plate, three hits, drove in four and scored two. Other keys for the Titans included Andy Bary and Ryan Bourgeois (two hits apiece, combined three runs scored and three RBIs.)

North now has four games the next two weeks against city rivals, all at Holman. First up is Bishop Guertin on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

SOUHEGAN 14,

CAMPBELL 5

The Sabers moved to 8-2 but it wasn’t as easy as it looked as they were down 4-3 in the top of the fifth until Colin Burke doubled in three runs in a five-run frame.

Burke had a monster day, going 3 for 4 with two doubles, a homer and five RBIs. Brandon Dufor had a three-run homer as well for the Sabers, who had 16 hits with Wil Jaques and Nick Wilson joining Burke and Dufor with multi-hit games.

Keegan Burke, meanwhile, went two scoreless, hitless innings on the mound for the Sabers, striking out five.

Logan Daigle, Andrew Durfee and Jack Kidwell all pitched for Campbell (1-7).

Souhegan hosts Hollis Brookline Saturday at 2 p.m. while the Cougars host Manchester West on Monday.

BEDFORD 11,

BISHOP GUERTIN 1

A tough stretch for the Cardinals continued at Bedford (8-3) as they dropped their fourth straight, falling to 4-8.

Guertin is back at it Monday at 4:30 at Holman vs. Nashua North.

SOFTBALL

BEDFORD 11,

BISHOP GUERTIN 8

Playing in their second straight eight inning game in two days, the Cardinals rallied from seven runs down early on but the Bulldogs struck for three in the top of the eighth for the win.

Katie Splaine started for the Cardinals, giving up seven earned runs on six hits and one walk and striking out five in three innings of work.

Sophomore Bailey Doyle came in for relief in the top of the fourth, giving up six hits, two walks, and striking out 6. Offensively, junior catcher Maddy Bowen went 3 for 4 on the day with two RBIs and four runs scored.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 9,

BEDFORD 6

This rematch from Tuesday of perhaps the two best teams in Divivision I was a flip-flop of the original. On Tuesday, Bedford jumped out to an early lead before the Cards took control.

In this one, Guertin led 9-1 and held on to stay unbeaten at 9-0. Rylee Bouvier had another big day with three goals and an assists, but she also had a good day on draw controls, one-handed grabs, checks and caused turnovers.

Lindsay Hult had two goals and an assist, while Katie Campel had a goal and an assist. Single scores were by Mimi Piercy, Nat Coutu, and Tess Prunier.

LONDONDERRY 19,

NASHUA NORTH 5

Lily Brooks led the Titans (7-4) with three goals while Kiley O’Brien added a pair and they had eight combined draw controls. Samantha Canto had 12 saves in the North goal.

SOUHEGAN 16

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 4

Key performances by the Sabers included Margot Manz (three goals, six draw controls), Cali Bishop (three goals, two assists), Abby Hawkes (three goals, one assist), Lyla Kimball (three draws, one goal), Emma Kennedy (goal, assist) Kenzie Cretsinger (two goals, two draws, two ground ball pickups), Elle Stevenson (three goals, two draws, one assist), Allie McCall (three ground balls) and goalie Shanon Hargreaves (eight saves).

For the 4-3 Cavaliers, Alyssa Hill again led all scorers with two goals and an assist. Abbey Magnuszewski and Hallie Bardani each scored a goal. Abbie Ogren contributed an assist.

HB looks to get back on track at Alvirne.

CAMPBELL 17,

ALVIRNE 3

The Broncos will look to do the same after a tough day vs. the Cougars. Charlotte Moloney, Hailey Ramalhinho, and Maddy Nicolosi each had a goal while Zaira O’Leary made 14 saves in goal.

The Cougars improved to 3-6 and the two teams will face each other again in Hudson on Monday. Campbell was led by Jose Oberto with four goals and three assists, while Brooke Stoncius added three and two.

Elayna Montenero had two goals and four assists while Pheobe Drouin had eight saves in the win.

BOYS LACROSSE

PINKERTON 18,

NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Panthers got three goals from Jaden Murphy but the Astros dominated, led by Ryan Lynch’s six goals and two assists. Drew Fleury added a goal for South, who got 10 saves from Ethan Johnson.

BISHOP GUERTIN 16,

BEDFORD 4

The Cardinals moved to 11-0, holding the Bulldogs (8-3) to just one goal in each period. John Krikorian led the way with five goals and an assist, while Brady Dumont and Michal Kiely each had two goals and an assist. Single scores were by Dawson Clark, Declan Wilkie, Connor Bouvier (with an assist), Connor Guibord, Nate Kane, Zach Kouchalakos, and J.J. Murphy. Tim Kiely added two assists while Nick McGovern added an assist.

Dylan Steward (five saves), Michael MacDonough (two) and Matt Peicker (four) shared goaltending duties for the Cards.

LONDONDERRY 20,

NASHUA NORTH 3

Robert Cannaway had a pair of goals while Jack Peters added two assists for th e Titans (1-10), who also got three ground ball pickups from Alex Teris and seven saves by goalie Devyn Lavoie.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12,

SOUHEGAN 9

Hunter Hudzik led the way for the winners with five goals, while Joe O’Reilly added two goals and four assists, and Garrett Sturgess a pair of goals. Also helping out the Cavs were Ethan Bender (goal), Ben Dufoe and Jake Roy (each with a goal and an assist).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

KEENE 0

The Cardinals improved to 7-4 with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-15 sweep at Keene.

Joey Farris had four aces and six digs, while D.J. Omogrosso had two aces and 11 kills. Jamie Horgos added two aces, four kills and one block.

MASCENIC 3,

SOUHEGAN 0

The Sabers lost in three straight sets while seniors Simon Trombley (led team in kills) and Ian Buchholz helped them play tough, losing just 25-23 in the third set.

Freshmen starters Dylan Boyer, Chase McBride (led Sabers in digs), Addison Hodgdon, Cooper Sousa-Tremblay, Owen Boyer, Logan Brown and soph Duncan Frates played well.

Buckholz, Boyer and Hodgdon led the Sabers in blocks while Brown and Frates played well defensively.

GIRLS TENNIS

NASHUA NORTH 8,

LONDONDERRY 1

Ashley Goh (8-1), Lillian Azevado (8-3), Sanya Rane (8-5), Caitlyn Mamos (8-3) and Ashley O’Young (8-1) triumphed for North in singles.

The Titans swept doubles with Goh/Andrea Milani (8-6), Azevedo/Mamos (8-3), and Rane/O’Young (8-1) all playing well.

BOYS TRACK

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 65,

SOUHEGAN 51

There were plenty of points in this one for both teams. Winners for the Cavaliers included Michael Curtis in the 100 and 200, John Kotelly (400 and triple jump), Luke Laborde (800), Marcus McCammack (300 hurdles), Dominic Houle (long jump), William Scales (discus)

Souhegan got wins from Josh Goddard (1600, 3200), Dawson Hamele (high jump), Zack Cotter (pole vault), Ezra Darling (shot put and javelin).

The teams split relays, Souhegan taking the 4×100 and the Cavaliers winning the 4×400.

GIRLS TRACK

SOUHEGAN 87,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 33

The Sabers had the decided edge as their winners included Caitlin Cooper (100), Chloe Trudel (400, ) Erin Taylor (300 hurdles), Maddy McFee (high jump), Sophia Lunati (pole vault, long jump), and Katerina Stuopis (javelin).

For HB, Kail Arthur took the 200, Amy Pattelena the 800 and 1600, and Claire Ballou (100 hurdles).

The teams split relays, with Souhegan taking the 4×100 and HB the 4×1600.
