Bishop Guertin's Shayne Amico is greeted by teammates at home plate after slugging a two-run home run against Keene on Wednesday in Keene. Bishop Guertin went on to win 14-2.

It was a good day for the Green and Gold diamond teams of Bishop Guertin on Wednesday, but not so good for anyone else as vacation week trudges on.

Here’s a look:

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 14, KEENE 2

Bishop Guertin shortstop Shayne Amico blasted a two-run home run in the second inning, highlighting a 13-hit day for the Cardinals in a 14-2 win over Keene High on Wednesday at Keene’s Foster Field.

Amico finished the day 3-for-6, driving in five runs thanks to the home run and two singles. The Cardinals (4-3) plated a pair of runs in the first on three walks and two hit batters. After a leadoff walk to start the second, Amico’s two-run shot was the first ball the Cardinals put in play, and it was gone over the left field fence in a hurry. Amico drove in another run in the third on a groundout to make it 5-1. She drove in two more with a single in the seventh, part of a six-run inning that blew things open late.

Keene (1-6) rallied in the fifth, chasing BG starter Lanna Bernier after a single and a double to start the frame. Keene made it 5-2 on a groundout after the Cardinals turned to Chloe Sellers in the pitching circle. The Blackbirds then loaded the bases with one out after a walk and single, but Sellers tight walked out of further trouble with back-to-back strikeouts.

The Cardinals turned it on offensively from there, plating three runs in the sixth on three hits, a walk, a hit batter and an error. They poured it on in the seventh behind three hits, two walks and two more hit batters. Avery Zapanas was 3-for-4 with two walks and two RBI, while Bernier was 2-for-4 with a double. Cayla Baldwin was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Bernier went four-plus innings in the circle, charged with two runs on six hits with two walks. She struck out five. Sellers struck out seven over three innings of relief, allowing just one hit and two walks.

The Cards host Manchester Central-Memorial on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

WINDHAM 16, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Jaguars got nine runs in the third inning to break things open at Nashua South, which fell to 2-5.

Cate Marvin took the loss in the circle for South, allowing six earned runs on 13 hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Cara Leblond, Maliyah Richer-Valentin, Brooke Berger and Marvn each collected one hit for the Panthers, who are at Portsmouth on Friday.

CONCORD 21, NASHUA NORTH 5

Despite the loss, the Titans (0-6) mustered some offense, as Maycie Hudson, Neha Lingadal and Madelyn Tino each had a hit.

Hayden Denehy, Lingadal and Tino each drove in a run for North. Marissa Trudel took the loss in the circle, a victim of the Tide’s 16-hit attack.

The Titans host Winnacunnet on Friday.

BASEBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 5, KEENE 4

Jake Daley got the game-winning hit for the Cards (4-4) for a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Pat LeMay from second.

Cole Lancaster picked up the win for BG, tossing two scoreless one-hit shutout frames. The Cards are scheduled to host Londonderry today, weather permitting.

CONCORD 3, NASHUA NORTH 1

The Titans in defeat played a much more competitive game than their previous two and scored their first run in four games amid a seven-game skid.

Now 1-7, North hosts Trinity on Monday.

SALEM 7, ALVIRNE 2

Memphis Beach struggled in his first varsity start while Cole Baker got his first varsity hit as the Broncos fell to 1-6.

Baker had two hits while Paul Millette had a hit and an RBI.

Alvirne is at Keene on Monday.

BOYS LACROSSE

WINDHAM 14, NASHUA NORTH 2

Nico Bottari and Nick Wilkinson each had a goal for the visiting Titans, now 1-6.
