HS Roundup: Change gives South girls win; BG nine falls

A rivalry brought out the best in both the Nashua High School North and South girls track teams.
But there was a change in the scoring, and that meant a different winner, with the South girls now owning a 78.5-75 win, when originally it was posted North by a mere half point, 77-76.5
The two were competing with Londonderry at Londonderry on Saturday, and despite the change the event was still close.
The meet highlighted a busy high school Saturday that included wins for Bishop Guertin boys lacrosse, Hollis Brookline and Nashua South girls lacrosse, Merrimack softball and more.
That included the BG baseball team, which lost a tough two-run game to Winnacunnet last night at Holman.
Here’s the rundown:
GIRLS TRACK
NASHUA SOUTH 78.5,
NASHUA NORTH 75
The host Lancers were third in this incredible meet with just 27.5 points.
The Titans got wins from Dantia Braccio in the 1600 and Olivia Mazerolle in the 300 hurdles. But a key in the change was the mis-posting on Lancer Timing that North’s foursome of Lilly Baker-Olivierra, Mazerolle, Rosalinda Taarez and Kelechi Okorie took the 4×100.
That win actually belonged to South with Lyana Braswell, Madeline Stevens, Mia Cruz and Soraya Ross in 51.07 seconds, and they are ranked No. 1 in Divison I right now. Meanwhile North’s Isabella DiVernieri, Christina Juris, Mazerolle and Rosalinda Tavarez won the 4×400 in 4:11.78
Mazerolle had herself a day as she also won the high jump, giving her four wins. Her former basketball teammate, Victoria Conrad, captured both the shot put and discus while North’s Madelne Novak won the javelin.
Other winners for South included Stevens in the 100 and 200, Mackenzie Betty in the 400, Calie Coffin in the 3200, while Natalie Boyle took the long and triple jumps.
MILFORD WINS
TRI-MEET
The Spartans (122 points) captured a tri meet over Wilton-Lyndeborough (22) and Manchester West (11).
Leading the way for Milford winners was Rachel Gizzonio as a triple winner (shot put, discus, and javelin). Also,
Emma Wells (400), Abbey Halloran (800, 1600), Victoria Cornaro in the 3200, Leslie MacGrath (100 hurdles, high jump, Sarah Sawyer (300 hurdles), Olivia Vogel (pole vault), Renee Wilson (long and triple jumps), plus Milford won the 4×100 relay.
WLC’s Sam Boette won the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
LOCALS EXCEL
AT MINI MEET
Athletes from several schools competed in a mini meet at Souhegan, basically individual events with no team scores kept.
Local winners were Merrimack’s Kailey Dillon (100), Bishop Guertin’s Fiona Doherty (800), Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel (1600), BG’s Kathleen Messer (100 and 300 hurdles), Merrimack in the 4z100 relay and the Cards took the 4×400.
BOYS TRACK
LONDONDERY 89,
NASHUA SOUTH 85
South’s Rory Olsen shined, winning both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, and teamed up with Chris Keefe, Jason Compoh and Eric Carlo to take the 4×100 meter relay. South’s Barion Perry won the high jump while Keefe took the long jump. Compoh won the shot while Carlo took the javelin.
MILFORD TOPS
WEST, WLC
The Spartans totaled 137 points, while West only manged 12 and Wilton-Lyndeborough four.
Winners for the Spartans were paced by three first from Alex Addonizio (110, 300 hurdles, and javelin). Also: Zackary Naun (100, 200), Nick Giordano (400, Daniel Sixon (800, 1600),, Nick Sloan (high and triple jumps), Trevor Naun (pole vault), Ryon Constable (long jump), and Caden Zalenski (shot put, discus). Milford also took the 4×100 relay.

AT MINI MEET
Here are the local winners from a mini meet at Souhegan involving athletes from Bishop Guertin, Souhegan, Keene and Merrimack, with no team scores kept:
For Merrimack it was Tyler Pencinger in the 100. Souhegan winners included Dawson Hamele (200), and the Sabers took both relays.
For BG, it was Keith O’Donnell in the 400, Sean O’Keefe (3200).
GIRLS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 14,

The Panthers broke loose in the second half with seven goals in the first six minutes after a 4-4 tie at halftime.
Audrey Mullaney had six saves in net while Aryanna Murray, Cate Harrington, Bailey Carroll and Maya Rioux anchored the defense.
Leading the explosive offense were Olivia Johnson (five goals, four assists) , Kaitlyn West had (three goals, three assists, three ground balls), Ella Benzekri had three goals, three ground balls and six draw controls, (Soleil Dubois two goals, two caused turnovers) and Maddie Matelewski (goal and 3 draw controls).
South (6-3) plays Pinkerton on Monday at Pinkerton.
WINDHAM 12,

The Cavaliers suffered their first loss (4-1), despite Alyssa Hill’s three goals and two assists. Other scorers included Brooke Allanach and Abbey Maguszewski (two goals each), while Hallie Bardani and Libby Rutledge shared goaltending duties with defensive help from Sammy Atlas, Morgan Broadhurst, Ellie Maxwell, Abbie Ogren and Nicole Heiter.
HB faces Division I Souhegan on Tuesday.
ST. THOMAS 15,

Bailey Bourque’s three goals and assist weren’t enough for the Cougars, who also got two goals and an assist from Brooke Stoncius.

The Cards improved to 9-0 with their second win in 24 hours, led by Jon Krikorian’s three goals plus a pair by Declan Wilkie. Single tallies were by Michael Kiely, Connor Bouvier, Connor Hughes, Kevin Broderick, Emerson Warren, Brady Dumont, and Tanner McLaughlin.
Wilkie had two assists along with Aiden Laurendeau,while Krikorian, Alex Dumont andConnor Guibord each had one. Guertin goaltenders Zach Connerty (save), Will Murphy and Matt Peicker (three each) and Michael MacDonough (four) shared time.
BEDFORD 14,

Matthew Todd had two goals and an assist to pace the 3-6 locals, while Connor Lanigan had a goal and Kyle Dunn an assist. Alex Griffin had eight saves in the ‘Hawks’ goal.
Bedford, which visits BG on Tuesday, impoved to 9-2.
The Tomahawks did get its first win ever over a Bedford team in the JV game, 7-3.
CAMPBELL 22,

The Cougars got big days from Drew Adamakos (six goals, four assists), Brendan Boschi (seven goals, six assists), And Ndrew Willnus (four goals.).
Also helping out were Jack Noury ((two goals, three assists) and Eric Coates (a goal). Ryan Guerrette had 14 saves in the Campbell net.
BASEBALL

The Cards fell to 4-7, losing their third straight as the Warriors’ Hayes Waddell drove in four with a single and triple.
The Cards fell behind 8-1 before rallying with four in the fifth.
Kyle Lavigne had a hit for BG, which hosts Bedford at Holman on Monday.

Merrimack’s Avery Hui fanned eight over seven innings, while the ‘Hawks (7-2) were led offensively by Morgan Goodspeed’s homer, Ashlynn Cassetty (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Erin Knaer (two singles, two runs), Lindsey Hui (two doubles, two runs, RBI) and Ave Melinn (triple, run).
Merrimack is at Alvirne on Monday.

Maddie Davis got the win giving up three hits with nine strikeouts. The Cougars supported her with 12 hits, as
Riley Gamache and Maddie Davis each had three apiece and Morgan Bruner had two.
