High School Highlights: Another big day for Nashua North on track

Boys and Girls Track

UNH (morning meet)

Nashua North

The boys’ and girls’ teams each won the overall with 69 and 87.5 points

respectively.

Joseph Curran picked up wins in the 1500 run (4:21.53) and the 3000 run (9:20.11). Connor Dunning won the 300 dash (37.68) and Sean Quinlan won the high jump (6-0) and took third in the long jump.

Yassine Jakib and Radames Gonzales finished third in the 600 run and 55 hurdles respectively. The Titans won the 4×160 relay (1:18.58) and ran runner up in the 4×400.

The girls grabbed individual wins from Mariana Santos (600 run), Dantia Braccio (1500 run), Olivia Mazerolle (high jump) and Victoria Conrad (shot put). Abby Coy had third place finishes in the 55 dash and long jump.

Rosalinda Tavarez and Kelechi Okorie were runner up in the 300 dash and high jump. North won the 4×160 relay and second in the 4×400. Chantal Finlay ended her day with a third in the 600 run.

Nashua South

Paul Marchand had a great day for the Panthers, picking up wins in the 55 dash (6.71) and long jump (21-04.25), along with runner up finishes in the shot put and 300 dash. Christopher Keefe grabbed a win in the 600 run (1:29.78) and the 4×160 team finished third.

The boys’ finished third overall with 52 points. Meghan Conway and Anai Dominguez had runner up finishes in the 3000 run and shot out respectively. Mia Cruz placed third in the 300 dash with Nadia Zhecheva finishing third in the 1000 run. The girls placed fourth overall with 4 points.

Merrimack

The Tomahawks had two wins and a runner up finish overall on the boys’ side. Andrew Peyton won the 1000 run with a time of 2:45.47. The 4×400 relay team also picked up a win.

Merrimack had runner up finishes from Josh Felo (600 run), Elijah Demeo (1000 run), Dylan Heiser (55 hurldes), Ryan Fischer (3000 run) and the 4×160 relay team.

The girls’ placed third overall with two wins. Ally O’Brien won the long jump (14-11.5) and Adele Alexander won the 3000 run (11:05.41).Mary Vance had a good day with runner up finishes in the 55 dash and long jump. The 4×160 relay team finished second and the 4×400 team placed third.

Hollis Brookline

Chase Adams picked up the lone win in the 55 hurdles (8.47) for the fourth place Cavs. Michael Curtin and Carson Bottomley each finished runner up in the 55 dash and 1500 run respectively. The 4×400 team finished in the third. Amy Pattelena was runner up in the 1500 run for the girls’.

Plymouth State meet

Alvirne

The boys’ came out on top winning the overall with 79 points. Owen Decosta won the 55 hurdles, runner up in the 55 dash and came in third in the long jump. Davante Mckoy-Sophos won the 300 dash (38.01) and runner up in the long jump. Justin Broussard grabbed a win in the shot put with a throw of 42-08.

Paul Balletto ended the 600 run in second place. The team of Decosta, Balletto, Mckoy-Sophes and Albert Matrille won the 4×200 relay.

Anthony Santos, Casey Corleto, Cooper Downey and Mckoy-Sophos came in second in the 4×400. The girls’ placed fifth in the meet with 50 points.

Adrienne Mckoy-Sophos had the lone Bronco win in the 55 dash (8.02) and also finished the 300 dash in second. Molly O’Donnell was second in the long jump, while placing third in the high jump.

Hannah Sellingham, O’Donnell, Rose Boudreau and Mckoy-Sophes were second in the 4×200. The team of Abby Dubois, Ella Simpson, Paige Boudreau and Mckoy-Sophos was runner up in the 4×400.

Wrestling

Bishop Guertin

The Cardinals beat out Manchester Central 42-12 and Manchester Memorial 60-0.

Winners on the day were Anthony Fernandez (2-0, 106), Randal Brown (1-0, 120), Connor MacDonald (2-0, 126), Steve Bouchard (2-0, 132), Ben Stawasz (2-0, 138), Zach Rioux (1-0, 145), James Murphy (1-0, 152), Matt Frechette (1-0, 160), Andrew Ha (1-0, 160), Matt Ha (1-1, 195), Aiden Szewczyk (1-1, 220) and Nick Connerty (2-0, 285).

Nashua North

The Titans beat Mascoma Valley 42-24 and Winnacunnet 36-32 at the Pinkerton quad meet. Collecting wins for North were Ryan Flynn (106), Matt Oliver (106), Benjamin Haight (113, two wins), Michael Mathson (126, two wins), Kole Ducharme (132), Finn Mullaly (160), Spencer Whiting (182, two wins), Toby Brown (195), Tyler Griffin (220, two wins) and Aidan McGrath (285).

Milford

The Spartans competed in the DeMeo duals and lost to Marlboro 43-21, Central Catholic 55-18, Wayland 54-6 and Dracut 42-27. Some notable wins were earned from Deacon Currier (126), Greg Gagnon(170), Ben Kilgore (195) and Danny Debernardo (HVY)who all had two victories on the day.

Swimming

Nashua North

The Titans boys’ team was able to defeat Nashua South and Bishop Guertin. Notable performances were from Rittivuth Chea with a first place in the 200 free and 100 butterfly. Owen White had two first place finishes in the 100 free and 100 back.

Also, Mario Rodriguez had a first place finish in the 50 free and a runner up in the 100 breaststroke. Lastly, the 200 medley relay of Chea, Ghose, Rodriguez and Lee took first place and the 400 free relay team ofChea, White, Lee, and Rodriguez, took first as well.

Bishop Guertin

The Cardinals girls’ took away wins against Nashua South (106-71) and Nashua North (130.5-40.5). Key wins were in the 200 medley relay composed of Olivia Shusta, Mia Januario, Grace Wang and Emma VanWagner and the 400 free relay with the team of Mia Januario, Michaela Dos Santos, Bree Cooley and Monica

Escartin.

Other winners were Mia Januario (200 free, 500 free), Olivia Shusta (200 IM, 100 fly) and Grace Wang (100 breastroke). The Guertin boys’ lost out to South 83-24 and North 113-19. Liam Chapman picked up a win in the one meter diving event.

Milford

The Spartan boys’ team beat Bishop Brady, Goffstown, Prospect Mountain, Kingswood and John Stark. Andrew Bartolomucci scored wins in the 50 free and 100 fly. Noah McCandless had a win in the 100 free and a third in the 50 free. Riley Hansen finished the 100 free in third and the 50 free in sixth, picking up personal best times in both events.

McCandless, Hansen, Cam Mitchell and Bartolomucci won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. The girls’ defeated Bishop Brady and John Stark, but lost to Wilton-Lyndeborough and Goffstown. Kat Raiano placed third in the 200 freestyle.

Boys Basketball

Manchester West 46,

Souhegan 37 (Friday)

Matt McCool had a 23 point performance in the home opener loss. The Sabers (1-1) host John Stark on Friday.

Salem 51,

Nashua South 48 (Friday)

Ivan Nyantenji had a team high 11 points in the Panthers (0-2) second loss of the season. South welcomes Keene on Tuesday.
