Being a good steward

By Sen. Kevin Avard - Nashua | Aug 20, 2022

As your State Senator, providing relief for all property taxpayers has been my top priority. The job is not done, but over the past two years, we have made great progress. Guided by responsible budgeting and sound fiscal management, our actions delivered more than $500 million in property tax relief for Granite State taxpayers.

Across Nashua and the towns of Senate District 12 alone, our efforts led to more than $17.5 million to help reduce property taxes. This included more than $2.6 million in increased revenue sharing under the Rooms and Meals Tax, more than $2 million for local roads, and more than $2.2 million for municipal bridge projects. The state budget includes a cut to the Statewide Education Property Tax (SWEPT), saving taxpayers in Nashua and the towns I represent more than $7.5 million. We also approved Extraordinary Need Grants, which will mean an additional $2.8 million for Nashua schools.

One of my highest priorities has been to serve as a good steward of taxpayer dollars. This will remain my focus as I continue to represent you in the New Hampshire Senate.
