Volunteers needed for Learn United Tutoring program

NASHUA – The United Way of Greater Nashua is seeking volunteers and new students to participate in the Learn United Tutoring program. This program offers free tutoring services to children in the community who need tutoring in a specific subject or assistance with general schoolwork. The goal of this program is to make sure that every student in the Greater Nashua area has access to the support they need to succeed regardless of socioeconomic status.

Learn United was originally founded in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to address the needs that arose during and after remote learning. It continues to serve as a safety net for any and all students in need of cost-free educational assistance, offering tutoring services in all subjects for students in grades K-12. This program is adaptable to the specific needs of each student and family that utilizes it and seeks to do whatever possible to help local students succeed.

United Way tutors work with each student on a schedule that fits their needs and availability. This includes remote and in-person meetings at different days and times (including weekends) and varying degrees of frequency. Locations include:

Westwood Park YMCA, 90 Northwest Blvd., Nashua

Merrimack YMCA, 6 Henry Clay Dr., Merrimack

Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua, 1 Positive Pl., Nashua

Nashua YMCA, 24 Stadium Dr., Nashua

Nashua PAL, 52 Ash St., Nashua

Girls Inc., 27 Burke St., Nashua

Salvation Army, 1 Montgomery Ave., Nashua

Nashua Public Library, 2 Court St., Nashua

United Way of Greater Nashua, 20 Broad St., #1, Nashua

21st Century Extended Day Program – Nashua School District, 141 Ledge St., Nashua

Education is one of the building blocks needed to create a good quality life, which is why providing equitable access to educational resources in the greater Nashua community is one of United Way’s primary impact areas. The Learn United program is looking for volunteers with experience working with students and expertise in a given subject (or subjects) in order to continue to support students in the Greater Nashua area who need academic support.
