Due to impending storm, some area towns postpone tomorrow’s elections

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Mar 13, 2023

Hudson, Milford, Amherst and Mont Vernon have rescheduled tomorrow’s town elections until Tuesday, March 28, due to today’s Nor’easter that forecasters say will dump up to a foot or more of snow across the region.

The impending storm is also expected to bring strong, gusty winds to much of New England starting tonight into early Wednesday, which, coupled with the heavy snowfall and potential for widespread power outages, has already forced the postponement or cancellation of pretty much all regularly scheduled activities for tomorrow, and in some cases into much of Wednesday.

In Milford, selectmen met in emergency session this morning, and ultimately decided to postpone the town election until March 28.

In Hudson, absentee ballots will be available until 5 p.m. Monday, March 27. Questions should be directed at the town clerk’s office at 886-6003.

Hollis officials, meanwhile, posted a notice on the town website stating that “at this time, we anticipate holding town elections as scheduled” tomorrow from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Barn.

Residents should keep checking the website for any updates.

As for Hollis’s Town Meeting, it will take place this Saturday as scheduled.

Merrimack, which holds its town elections in May, is scheduled to hold its deliberative session this Wednesday, and as of now it is still on.

In Litchfield, tomorrow’s Town Meeting is still on as of noon today. Officials said absentee ballots are available through 5 p.m. today.

And in Wilton, tomorrow’s town and school elections are still on as of today. It takes place from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Wilton Town Hall.

Residents of all area towns should keep an eye on their town’s website for any further developments.
