Pool Pond is off Route 202, just north of the Route 119 intersection, in the town of West Rindge.

RINDGE — A swift, multi-agency search Saturday afternoon of a missing swimmer in Pool Pond, a 140-acre body of water along Route 202 in West Rindge, concluded about two and a half hours later with the discovery of the man’s body about 300 feet from shore.

The swimmer, identified as Benjamin Dabuliewicz, 38, was reported missing around 3 p.m. by a family member, who called the state police dispatch center after discovering what officials described as “personal belongings” on a nearby beach.

Officials also learned that shortly before the belongings were found, Dabuliewicz’s dog was seen swimming alone in the pond.

A family member went out and led the dog back to shore, then tried to contact Dabuliewicz, but was unsuccessful, prompting him or her to call emergency personnel.

Numerous agencies were dispatched to the scene, including state police Marine Patrol and state Fish and Game officers, Rindge police, fire and rescue personnel from Rindge and Jaffrey, and members of the Winchendon dive team and the New Hampshire Water Rescue Task Force, officials said.

They said the incident remains under investigation, and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has additional information, contact state police Marine Patrol Sgt. Seth Ali at 227-2117 or seth.p.alie@dos.nh.gov.
