WINDHAM — Upwards of 500 posts to social media in response to Saturday’s brazen, early-morning “smash-and-grab” theft of several dirt bikes at Naults Powersports’ Windham location have generated optimism that police will catch up with the five suspects sooner than later.

The videos, from which several Naults’ Facebook followers created still images that were posted along with the videos, show the suspects from the time they arrived on the property of the store at 60 Range Road.

Curt Grenier, the company’s general manager, announced a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

He said the bikes stolen include two 2022 CRF 450 RS bikes, a 2021 KX 85 and a 2022 KX 250, along with four motorcycle helmets.

Police said, and the videos show, five males, all wearing masks and hoods, “walk up to the building’s front entrance with two large rocks.”

All five suspects then begin smashing the glass in the entrance doors and adjacent windows, “until a hole is made in the glass,” police said. Once the hole was large enough, three of the suspects enter the building, while the other two go to the building’s northern entrance, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the store at about 4:25 a.m. Saturday, roughly three minutes after the suspects arrived and subsequently triggered the store’s alarm system.

The first arriving officer was there “seconds after the alarm was received,” and reported a broken front window, police said. Additional officers found damage “to multiple doors and windows” throughout the building.

Police then called for a company representative to respond to the scene to assess the damage and compile a list of what was stolen.

Meanwhile, the video shows that when the suspects entered the store, one of them was carrying bolt cutters, and he “immediately cuts the cables securing several dirt bikes together,” police said.

Once the cables were removed and “the motorcycles were freed,” video shows them wheeling five dirt bikes out the door on the north side of the building and taking them toward Range Road and out of the view of the security cameras, police said.

At about the same time, “several other bikes were wheeled from the second floor down to the first floor and out of the building,” police said.

The video shows one of the suspects taking helmets from the second-floor showroom.

Police said all the suspects exited the building at 4:27 a.m., and one minute later, one of the suspects returned through the hole in the window and grabs the bolt cutters that had been left on the floor.

Although police referred to five suspects, they determined there were a total of six involved in all. They all appear to be males, ranging in age from late teens to early 20s, police said.

As investigators continue viewing the video footage from the store, as well as from other businesses that surround the store, police are also asking residents of the area to check any exterior surveillance footage for any suspicious vehicles or individuals around the time the incident took place.

And anyone with any information that may help investigators is urged to contact Windham Det. Sgt. Jessica Flynn at 434-5577.
