LITTLETON — A Sunday evening rollover crash on I-93 just south of Exit 44 has claimed the lives of two girls, who police say were ejected from the 2004 Chevy pickup truck in which they were passengers.

State police identified the victims only as “juvenile females,” apparently due to their ages, which weren’t specified.

The driver of the truck, Jordan Couture, 36, of Milton, Vermont, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Littleton Regional Hospital for treatment, police said.

A preliminary investigation showed that Couture was driving north on I-93 when he lost control of the truck, which then went off the left side of the road and into the median, where it “began to slide sideways and eventually began rolling over,” ejecting the two girls, police said in a statement.

Both girls were pronounced deceased at the scene, police added. They didn’t say whether there were any other passengers in the truck.

Due to the seriousness of the crash, police said, the state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.

Members of the unit were assisted at the scene by troopers from state police Troop F, officers from the Littleton Police Department and personnel with the Littleton Fire and Rescue Department.

Police said all aspects of the crash remain under investigation, including the cause.
