NASHUA — State Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg has determined that Cynthia Toupin, whose body was found in an Auburn Street apartment Friday morning, died of “sharp force trauma to the neck,” and that the manner of her death is classified as homicide.

Weinberg made the determinations after conducting an autopsy on Toupin, 71, whose 27-year-old grandson, Jacob Abraham, is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Toupin lived in one of the four apartments at 22 Auburn St. Police also listed Abraham as a resident of the building.

Abraham on Monday waived formal extradition back to Nashua from Lowell, Massachusetts, where he was captured by police in that city within a day of the murder.

He is expected to be arraigned via video in Hillsborough County Superior Court South in Nashua at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Abraham could choose to waive formal arraignment, at which time the judge would issue a bail order — which would almost certainly be preventive detention, meaning held in jail, with the option to request that the court schedule a bail hearing.
