One week left for candidates to file for Nashua municipal offices in Nov. 2 election

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Aug 30, 2021

NASHUA — Any Nashua residents who’ve been tossing around the idea of running for public office have until Friday, Sept. 3, to file the required petitions to become an official candidate.

That includes incumbents interested in holding on to their seat for another term.

Petitions will be accepted until 5 p.m., according to city officials.

The drawing to decide the position of each candidate’s name on the ballot will take place in the City Hall aldermanic chamber at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

More information on the filing process, including various links to locate and download the petitions to print out and submit to city officials can be found at www.nashuanh.gov/195/Elections.

Voters will cast ballots on Nov. 2 for the following offices: Board of Aldermen (three of the six alderman-at-large seats and each of the nine ward aldermen; the moderator, selectman and clerk for each ward; the Board of Education (four seats); the Board of Public Works (two seats); and the Fire Commission (two seats plus

one seat to fill the remainder of an unexpired term).

The names of the candidates who have filed as of Sunday follow. A “petitions verified” notation means the candidate has met the requirements necessary to have their name on the ballot. A “pending” notation indicates that officials have received petitions but are still in the process of verifying them.
