Michael Wells, 55, of Manchester

MANCHESTER — Police are offering a cash reward — the amount of which wasn’t provided — for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Michael Wells, who is suspected of robbing the Citizens Bank branch at 1550 Elm St. late last week.

Police said Wells, 55, who is also a Tier III registered sex offender, walked away from the Calumet House — a Department of Corrections halfway house — earlier in the week.

Investigators issued a warrant for Wells’s arrest after they developed him as a suspect in the robbery, in which he allegedly handed a teller a note, said he had a gun, and fled on foot, according to police.

The amount of money Wells allegedly stole wasn’t provided.

The DOC also issued a warrant for Wells’s arrest on a charge of escape, in connection with his disappearance from Calumet House, police added.

Archived news reports show that in December 2018, a Michael Wells, then age 52, of Manchester, was arrested in connection with two bank robberies within three days.

Wells allegedly robbed the same Citizens Bank he is accused of robbing last week, and allegedly robbed the Eastern Bank, 41 Hooksett Road, according to the archives.

At the time, police credited tips they received from the public for helping them track down, and arrest, Wells.

The status of those cases weren’t immediately available.

In regards to the current case, police ask that anyone with any information regarding Wells’s whereabouts contact the department at 668-8711, or place an anonymous call to the Manchester Crimeline at 624-4040.
