Three-month investigation into sale of heroin/fentanyl yields arrest of Nashua man

Joshua Smith, age 36, of 4 Marshall St., Apt. D310, Nashua
NASHUA – A police investigation initiated in March into reports that local resident Joshua Smith had allegedly been selling heroin or fentanyl led to Smith’s arrest Monday, police said.
Smith, 36, of 4 Marshall St., Apt. D310, was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m. by members of the department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit, according to police.
He is charged with two counts of sale of a controlled drug – heroin/fentanyl, which are special felonies, and one count of possession of heroin/fentanyl, a Class B felony, police reported.
Smith’s bail status wasn’t immediately available. Police said he will be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court South at a date to be determined.
Detectives investigating the allegations against Smith eventually issued a warrant for his arrest, which they served Monday.
The possession charge stems from a post-arrest search of Smith, in which officers allegedly located a quantity of heroin/fentanyl on him.
Police urge anyone with any information regarding illegal drug activity to contact the department’s Narcotics Hotline, 594-3597, or go to www.nashuapd.com.
