Nashua man accused of bolting from police custody after getting OK for a quick smoke

Tyler Prue, 28, of Nashua

BRISTOL – Just about finished with the booking process after local police arrested him on charges of stalking, breach of bail and driving after suspension Saturday afternoon, Tyler Prue, of Nashua, asked officers if he could smoke a cigarette before being driven to the Grafton County jail to await his arraignment.

But moments after they granted him permission, Prue allegedly bolted from the police station and high-tailed it toward a nearby neighborhood, according to reports.

As it turned out, according to Bristol police Chief James McIntire, Prue’s freedom from police custody lasted roughly 45 minutes before he was back at the police station for booking on the new charge of felony escape.

But he may have been at large quite a bit longer had it not been for the assistance police received from residents of the nearby neighborhood – who kept track of Prue as he ran through their backyards, McIntire said.

Assisting Bristol officers in re-apprehending Prue were law enforcement personnel from state police, state Fish and Game, and Hampton, Bridgewater and Franklin police, along with a Franklin K9 team.
