Nashua man, charged in 2014 with attacking, biting two people, arrested Tuesday for allegedly wielding knife
Fernando Anton, age 29, of 22 Wason Avenue, Nashua
NASHUA – Police on Tuesday took into custody Fernando Anton, 30, of 22 Wason Ave., charging him with felony offenses accusing him of falsifying physical evidence and possessing a weapon – a knife – which is prohibited because he is a convicted felon, police said.
Anton was arrested on a warrant around 5 p.m. Tuesday, police said. He was booked on the charges then later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, a date for which has yet to be determined.
Police said Anton’s arrest stems from an incident back in February, when officers were called to a local residence for a report of a disorderly man wielding a knife.
Witnesses told officers that the man, later identified as Anton, had allegedly discarded the knife when police arrived.
Detectives who furthered the investigation determined Anton’s status as a convicted felon, and issued a warrant on that charge and the falsifying evidence offense for allegedly discarding the knife.
Back in November 2014, Fernando Anton, who was 23 at the time, was arrested in San Diego by members of a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in connection with an alleged domestic attack in Nashua about two months earlier.
Anton allegedly assaulted two people, described as Anton’s former girlfriend and her current boyfriend, at an unspecified Nashua address, police said at the time.
The woman told police Anton broke into the residence and assaulted the two, allegedly biting both of them and leaving the woman with a severe lip injury, police said.
In addition to the first-degree assault charge, Anton was also charged with burglary – domestic violence, a Class A felony; second-degree assault – domestic violence. a Class B felony; and one count each of reckless conduct and breach of bail conditions, both Class A misdemeanors.
The status of that case wasn’t immediately available.
Police ask anyone who may have more information regarding the incident that led to Anton’s Tuesday arrest to call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
