Merrimack police asking residents for help in identifying, and locating, suspect accused of shooting up Tinker Road property overnight

MERRIMACK – Police are hoping one or more people can provide information that will help them locate the suspect or suspects responsible for firing as many as two dozen rounds at a Tinker Road home early Monday morning.

A $500 reward is also being offered, police said, for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Police didn’t provide the address of the property that was targeted, other than to say it is on Tinker Road.

One of the numerous comments posted on social media Monday indicated the property is on the southern end of Tinker Road, in the area of Holt’s Landing and Portside drives, which are a short distance from the Nashua-Merrimack line.

Several other posts came from people who said they were awakened by the sound of gunshots around 2:30 or 3 a.m.

Police said in a Monday statement that officers were called to the area just after 2:30 a.m. “for the report of multiple gunshots heard in the area.”

The officers searched the area, police said, but didn’t find any evidence of gunfire.

But several hours later, at about 7:45 a.m., a Tinker Road resident called to report that their property “sustained heavy damage caused by gunfire,” police said.

The resident led responding officers to two sheds and two vehicles parked on the property, all of which had been damaged by what police described as “at least 20 rounds of gunfire.”

The shots caused several thousand dollars worth of damage to the buildings and vehicles, police said.

Police didn’t say if they consider the incident a random act, or if the property was specifically targeted.

They did say that they are looking for any information regarding the incident, and are urging any potential witnesses to contact Merrimack police detectives Gregory Walters or H. Clark Preston at 424-3774.

Police also said they are asking residents of the area to check their surveillance cameras “for any evidence of the crime or any suspicious activity” in Monday’s early-morning hours.

Should a caller wish to remain anonymous, he or she can call the department’s Tip Line at 424-2424.
