Tariq Alston, 19, of Manchester

MANCHESTER – The 19-year-old man charged with one count of felony reckless conduct in connection with the shootings last month of three people outside a downtown market waived Tuesday’s arraignment and was released on personal recognizance bail, according to court documents.

Tariq Alston, a Manchester resident whose street address is unknown, is accused of firing several shots outside the Seven Days Market the night of April 7, police said.

Responding officers located two people suffering from gunshot wounds, and later determined a third person, also suffering from gunshot wounds, had been dropped off at Elliot Hospital.

An investigation determined that “Alston had been seen firing a gun during the incident,” which took place at the corner of Union and Cedar streets, police said.

Alston’s arrest comes just over two weeks after he pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge in exchange for a suspended jail sentence. The felony charge was modified to a Class A misdemeanor, and a charge of criminal mischief was dropped as part of the agreement.

Manchester police said they continue to investigate the April 7 incident, and are looking to identify other people involved in the incident.

Anyone with any information on the case are asked to contact police at 668-8711 or call the department’s Crimeline at 624-4040.
