File photo The rollover crash that claimed the life of a Nashua man and seriously injured another occurred in the area of the I-89 rest area in the town of Sutton.

SUTTON – Two Nashua men were ejected from a pickup truck Friday afternoon after the driver apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off of Interstate 89 and roll over several times, police said.

The passenger, Jonathan Mainguy, 35, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police.

The driver, Glenn Levesque, 42, also of Nashua, was treated at the scene then flown by DHART helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital suffering from what police described as life-threatening injuries.

There was no word on Levesque’s condition as of late Monday.

State police said troopers from Troop D responded shortly before 5 p.m. to the southbound side of I-89 near the Sutton rest area after calls were received for a single-vehicle crash with injury.

A preliminary investigation determined that Levesque was driving the 2015 GMC pickup south on I-89 when he “lost control of his vehicle,” police said.

The truck went off the left side of the road and into the soft shoulder, then veered back onto the highway, crossed all southbound lanes, again left the paved serface, this time on the right side of the highway, police said.

The truck kept going, and when it reached the wood line, it began to roll over, police said, adding it was then that Levesque and Mainguy were thrown from the truck.

The crash occurred along a section of I-89 just south of the Sutton rest area, police said. The location is roughly halfway between the Sunapee and Kearsarge Valley regions in western Merrimack County.

Members of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit were called to the scene to conduct the investigation into the crash.

Assisting at the scene were members of Troops C and D, the Sutton police and fire departments and ambulance personnel from New London.

Police said all aspects of the crash, including the cause, remain under investigation. They ask anyone who may have additional information regarding the crash to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 223-8993 or daniel.r.quartulli@dos.nh.gov.
