Police arrest one man, seek two others in alleged shooting spree throughout downtown neighborhoods

Jan Garcia, 19, of 2 Autumn Leaf Drive, Apt. 14, Nashua

NASHUA – Upwards of 40 gunshots fired at three downtown locations in a span of an hour and a half about a week ago set off a wide police investigation that so far has netted one suspect, with two others still at large, police said.

In custody is Jan Garcia, 19, of 2 Autumn Leaf Drive, Apt. 14, who remains in jail on preventive detention following his arraignment and bail hearing on Tuesday.

He is charged with one count each of convicted felons, falsifying physical evidence, and reckless conduct – acting in concert, all Class B felonies.

The convicted felons charge accuses Garcia of being in possession of a deadly weapon as a convicted felon.

Still at large and sought by police are Jose Flores, 23, and Nathan Flores, 22, both of 97 W. Hollis St., for whom arrest warrants have been issued on one count each of falsifying physical evidence and reckless conduct – acting in concert, police said.

Nathan Flores, 22, of 97 W. Hollis St., Nashua

The three sets of shots-fired calls came in between 10:40 p.m. March 4 and 12:09 a.m. March 5, police said.

They didn’t specify address or street locations of the incidents, saying only that they all occurred “in the downtown area in neighborhoods that are densely populated.”

While there were no injuries reported at each of the scenes, police said three houses and two vehicles were struck by bullets, some of which penetrated the outer walls of the houses, and one of which went into a bedroom where a person was sleeping.

Police also said the houses that were struck were not the intended targets of the gunfire.

Several hours after the last reported shooting, police said, officers pulled over a vehicle that matched the description witnesses gave at one of the scenes.

Police said officers identified the driver as Jose Flores, and the passengers as Nathan Flores and Jan Garcia.

While the officers didn’t make any arrests at that time, detectives investigating the incidents determined that the three were allegedly responsible for at least one of the shooting incidents, police said.

Detectives also discovered that the trio allegedly tossed several firearms from the vehicle just before officers pulled it over, police said.

Investigators are now asking for the public’s assistance in locating Nathan and Jose Flores, but warn that both should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who has any information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665, while anyone who recognizes one or both men should not approach them, but call Nashua police at 594-3500 or, if necessary, call 911.
