PETERBOROUGH – Driver fatigue may have played a role in the two-car crash on Route 101 late Saturday night that claimed the life of a Manchester man and left a Milford resident with serious injuries, according to police.

Ryan Kerick, 39, “sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision,” state police said. Kerick’s young daughter, whose name and age weren’t provided, sustained minor injuries, they added.

The driver of the other vehicle, Brett Biron, 21, of Milford, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment, police said.

While “all aspects” of the crash “remain under investigation,” police said, a preliminary report indicates that driver fatigue was a factor in the crash.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Route 101, also called Wilton Road, in the area of Field Road, which is about midway between Miller State Park and downtown Peterborough.

Police said investigators determined that Biron, who was driving a Volkswagen Jetta west on Route 101 when he lost control.

The vehicle crossed the center dividing line and traveled into the eastbound lane, police said.

Upon “crossing into the opposing lane, Biron’s vehicle collided” with the Ford Escape that Kerick was driving east on Route 101.

Peterborough police requested the state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit respond to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Police closed a section of Route 101 for several hours while the on-scene investigation was taking place.

Police ask that anyone who may have any additional information on the crash to contact state police Trooper Joshuah Howe at 223-8494 or joshuah.r.howe@dos.nh.gov.
