By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Jan 28, 2021

Representatives of the three school districts that make up SAU 39 have voted to delay their annual school district meetings and elections until May and June, officials announced Wednesday.

The decision to delay came in response to the governor’s Emergency Order 83, which was issued last Friday.

The new dates for each of the three SAU 39 districts follow.

* Deliberative (first) sessions: Souhegan Cooperative School District, Monday, May 3; Amherst School District, Tuesday, May 4; Mont Vernon School District, Wednesday, May 5.

The time and location of the deliberative sessions will be posted at least 14 days in advance.

* Voting (second) sessions: Tuesday, June 8. Amherst voters: 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Souhegan High School; Mont Vernon voters: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Mont Vernon Village School.

Voters in both towns will also cast ballots for the town side on June 8.

The filing period for candidates closes at 5 p.m. Friday as originally scheduled.

Also, current members of each school board will remain in office until newly elected candidates are sworn in following the June 8 election.
