Police track down, arrest suspect in downtown barbershop burglary

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Reporter | Dec 30, 2020

Luis Maldonado-Arroyo, age 41, of no fixed address

NASHUA – The suspect had fled by the time police arrived at a West Pearl Street barbershop in response to reports of a burglary in progress early Tuesday morning.

But less than an hour later, officers spotted a man who, police said, was “wearing some of the same clothing” as was the person in the video security footage they had just reviewed.

Officers approached the suspect, whom they identified as Luis Maldonado-Arroyo, a local man with no fixed address, and after discovering he allegedly had in his possession one of the items taken in the burglary, they took him into custody.

Maldonado-Arroyo, 41, was charged with one count of burglary, a Class B felony, accusing him of breaking into Made Men Barbershop, 116 W. Pearl St., and stealing several items.

Maldonado-Arroyo was booked on the charges and later arraigned on the charge. He was granted personal recognizance bail pending his next court appearance, which is a dispositional conference scheduled for Feb. 23 in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

It appears from court documents in his name that Maldonado-Arroyo was also arrested for burglary back in April, in connection with a break-in at an unidentified local business on March 8.

According to the case file, the most recent hearing in that case was scheduled for October, with no entries since that time.

Police ask that anyone with any additional information on this week’s alleged burglary contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
