NASHUA – The police investigation into the overnight theft of at least $3,000 worth of tools from construction trailers parked at Fairgrounds middle and elementary schools has yielded the arrests of three teens from Merrimack.

Taken into custody on warrants and charged with felonies were Cody Cook, 18, and Brent Wallin, 19, both of 90 Turkey Hill Road, and Jackson Cote, 18, of 24 Belmont Drive, according to police.

Cook and Wallin are each charged with two counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, while Cote is charged with two counts of criminal liability for the conduct of another to theft, police said.

Due to the value of the tools that were allegedly stolen, the charges are all Class A felonies.

The young men were booked on the charges at police headquarters, then released on personal recognizance bail pending their arraignments, which will take place at Hillsborough County Superior Court South at a date that has yet to be scheduled.

Police said their investigation, which involved the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, determined that two construction trailers owned by separate companies were broken into sometime during the overnight hours of Oct. 27 or 28.

Police didn’t describe the tools that were stolen, or say whether they were hand tools or power tools. Nor did they specify the total value of the tools, other than to say that each company suffered a loss of at least $1,500.

One trailer is parked at the middle school and the other at the elementary school. The two schools, whose addresses are 27 Cleveland St. and 37 Blanchard St., respectively, are about 100 yards apart and within sight of each other.

Police ask anyone who may have more information about the incident to contact the department’s Crime Line at 589-1665.
