NASHUA – A new restaurant is reportedly coming to downtown Nashua, according to plans by the company that recently purchased the Riverside Building at 53-59 Main St.

Prolman Realty announced the sale of the 3,750 square foot building to Diastole Holdings LLC, which purchased it from the Hudson-based firm 53-59 Main Street LLC for $735,000.

The roughly 100-year-old Riverside Building has housed numerous businesses over the decades, including longtime tenants Rice’s Pharmacy, B&S Locksmith, Cobleigh & Cobleigh law firm, and a string of luncheonettes that included Spaulding’s Variety, Johnny’s Variety, Lenny’s Variety, Eisenberg’s Deli and most recently, the Riverside Barbecue Company, which closed last year.

According to Mark Prolman of Prolman Realty, the building is “the gateway property to the Riverwalk expansion” due to its location next to the Nashua River.

The building “will be occupied by a restaurant,” Prolman said, adding that the name of the restaurant will be revealed with a “formal announcement (that is) forthcoming.”
