NASHUA – Ever-popular American swing music will fill downtown Nashua Saturday evening, as the legendary Hal McIntyre Orchestra swings by Le Park De Notre Renaissance Française – Renaissance Park, off Water Street – to headline the city’s second Dancin’ in the Park event.

Coming on the heels of August’s highly successful Dancin’ in the Park, which featured Latin music and dance, Saturday’s swing-themed program will run from 6:30-9:30 p.m., according to Great American Downtown executive director Paul Shea.

While there is no admission fee, but preregistration is required “to ensure we can work within our capacity,” Shea said, referring to the guidelines that cap attendance at 150 people in order to attain proper physical distancing.

Facemasks are also required for everyone, with the exception of performers, Shea added.

To preregister, go to downtownnashua.org/events-programs and click on “ticket reservation link.” Shea advises attendees to arrive as close to 6:30 as possible, and notes that preregistration doesn’t guarantee admission.

Great American Downtown and the city are co-hosting the event, which will feature, in addition to the music, dance instruction by Paper Moon Dance studio.

Joining the Hal McIntyre Orchestra will be special guest Steve Marvin, a Boston-based crooner whose playlist includes classics by “chairman of the board” Frank Sinatra.

Shea said the park is a great venue, and even more attractive now that the city has begun its riverfront cleanup and renovation project.

Organizers encourage kayakers and canoeists to paddle over toward the shore to enjoy the show. “Last time, we had about a dozen kayakers out there,” Shea said, referring to last month’s Dancin’ in the Park event.

On the topic of safety, Shea said organizers have been working with the city Department of Public Health “to ensure proper measures are in place for a healthy, safe and fun night of music and dance.”

Patrons will find hand santizer stations, and extra rest rooms have been added.
