Bedford man faces federal charges, allegedly records student in shower
CONCORD – A two-month investigation into allegations by a teenage foreign exchange student that his host installed hidden cameras to record him in the shower has culminated in the arrest of Bedford resident Matthew C. Dion.
Dion, 48, who, according to Bedford property records lives at 51 Barrington Drive, was detained following his arrest Tuesday, according to U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray.
He was scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate on Wednesday in U.S. District Court, Murray said. The outcome of that hearing wasn’t immediately available.
Dion is charged with producing child pornography, according to Murray.
He said law enforcement officials began investigating Dion after the 16-year-old exchange student allegedly found “what he believed to be hidden cameras in the bathroom” of Dion’s home.
Police, after obtaining a search warrant, searched Dion’s residence and his vehicle. The searches turned up “various electronic devices, including a Micro SD card that was underneath the seat of Dion’s car,” Murray said.
Officers seized the devices and the card, on which they allegedly “found sexually explicit images of the 16-year-old student that had been taken in the bathroom while he showered,” Murray said.
He said the case was investigated by the Bedford Police Department, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and members of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations.
