MERRIMACK – Police who responded back on May 8 to a report of a single-car crash in the area of Joppa and Patten roads discovered a heavily damaged vehicle and power outages – but no driver.

On Friday, more than a month later, Amherst resident Justin Kasynak turned himself in on a warrant police had issued for his arrest shortly after the crash, police said.

Kasynak, 28, of 300 State Route 101, was charged with one count each of conduct after an accident and criminal mischief, both of which are Class A misdemeanors.

He was booked on the charges at police headquarters and later released pending arraignment, which police said is scheduled for July 9 in Merrimack district court.

Police said that upon investigating the crash, they were able to determine the vehicle was allegedly driven by Kasynak, and that “he had caused the accident and left the scene,” police said.
