Suspect identified, warrant is issued in downtown shooting incident

NASHUA – Police have an arrest warrant out for a suspect in Wednesday’s downtown shooting incident.

Detectives investigated and concluded that Jalen Juwan Miller, 26, is responsible for the shooting and has been charged with first degree assault, a class A felony.

Friday morning’s announcment confirmed that a male, 30, suffered a gunshot wound in the foot during the altercation. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene.

Police officers responded to the area of Main Street and Water Street for a report of shots fired at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Patrick Hannon said that the shooting happened at Bicentennial Park, next to the Main Street Bridge near Darrell’s Music Hall.

“We know that they knew each other,” Hannon said. “We’re not exactly sure what the argument was about specifically.”

Hannon said that the last known address for Miller is in Nashua, but he could have ties elsewhere in the area. According to Hannon, a third individual may have been present at the altercation as police continue there investigation.

A green Ford Focus was left behind in the area of the crime.

“One of the individuals involved, that car was connected to them, but it wasn’t a drive-by shooting type of thing,” Hannon said.

Police say it appears to have been an isolated incident, butcautioned that Miller should be considered armed and dangerous.

Miller was last seen wearing tan shorts and a white t-shirt.
