City sets up COVID-19 phone number

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Mar 23, 2020

NASHUA – The telephone hotline city officials established late last week as part of their response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation will be staffed from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. seven days a week, adding another tool to Nashua residents’ toolboxes as they join the nation and much of the world in riding out the current health crisis.

The hotline – 589-3456 – is under the direction of the city Division of Public Health and Community Services, which anchors one of five task forces assembled in recent days to coordinate the city’s response.

Also, beginning at 9 a.m. today, residents can donate such items as personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies to the city, and various paper goods, diapers and bottled water to local agencies.

Donors can bring the items to the Public Works Division’s traffic building at 9 Stadium Drive from 9 a.m. – noon today through Wednesday.

For additional information, see the poster titled “Donations Needed” on Page A-4.

As for the hotline, residents who call outside its regular hours will receive a callback the next day. Callers seeking information other than public-health issues, such as city services, business needs, school operations, donations or volunteer operations, will be redirected to the appropriate department.

The other four task forces focus on municipal continunity, school-related issues, economic recovery and community distribution.
