Bus Service to Continue; Ticket office closes

NASHUA – The Nashua transit system announced closure of The Transit Center Ticket office starting this past Monday through April 6 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This, however, does not indicate a suspension or limitation of transit service, or the stoppage of ticket sales. According to their website, riders will have until 4:45 pm this Friday to purchase “ride cards, passes, etc.,” and will still be able to pay the exact cash fare on the buses, or use the Token Transit App available for both iPhone and Android for free in their respective digital stores.
Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the bus station located at The Ticket Transit center had between zero and three riders for a duration of approximately 30 minutes. Despite an apparent low volume of riders, signs located on the doors of the building encourage social distancing asking individuals to try to stay at least 6 feet away from others.
Another notice taped to the door reads: “Due to the current situation with the virus, we’re asking everyone to only sit in the transit center for 2 rotations. This means you need to board a bus, either the 15 past or the 45 past, or you’ll be asked to leave.”
According to their website, new policies that have been implemented by the Nashua transit system in light of the outbreak include a daily cleaning and disinfecting of all vehicles and facilities, providing operators with gloves and disinfecting wipes, and posting informational flyers about COVID-19 on vehicles and at the Transit Center.
In addition to a typical list of precautionary measures such as “washing your hands for 20 seconds” and “covering coughs and sneezes,” the Nashua transit system website claims to “continue to follow guidance from the Nashua Division of Public Health & Community Service,” and encourages all riders and residents to visit the following websites for more information and updates on COVID-19 Local: https://nashuanh.gov/1332/COVID-19 National: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
More updates will be posted to The Telegraph website as the situation progresses and more information becomes available.
