MANCHESTER – Initially, prosecutors filed just one charge – a Class A felony count of first-degree assault – accusing convicted felon Dale Holloway of beating up his public defender as the two met in a small room at Valley Street jail.

But this week, the January term of the grand jury for Hillsborough County Superior Court-North handed up indictments on five additional counts, which represent a mix of first-and second-degree assault charges that stem from allegations Holloway violently attacked public defender Michael Davidow, causing him to suffer multiple injuries that include a subarachnoid hemorrhage and fractured nasal bones, according to the indictments.

The case is one of two pending against Holloway, a 37-year-old Manchester resident who has previously been convicted of crimes such as assault and battery in Suffolk County in Massachusetts.

Holloway’s trouble with New Hampshire law enforcement began when, in October, he allegedly entered the New England Pentecostal Church in Pelham during a wedding ceremony, brandished a handgun and shot bishop performing the ceremony, seriously wounding him.

Holloway also allegedly shot the bride, who was less seriously injured, and struck the groom in the head before wedding guests “gang tackled” Holloway and held him down until police arrived.

For the alleged church shooting case, filed in Nashua’s Hillsborough County Superior Court-South, Holloway faces one count each of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm and simple assault.

Then, while housed in Valley Street jail on the church shooting allegations, Holloway allegedly beat up Davidow.

The next scheduled hearing in the case is a combination arraignment and dispostional conference set to start at 9 a.m. March 19 in the Nashua court.

The five new indictments, on which Holloway is scheduled for arraignment this morning in the Manchester court, include one count of first-degree assault – serious bodily injury, a Class A felony; two counts of second-degree assault – serious bodily injury; and two counts of assault by prisoner – first (or) second-degree assault, Class A felonies.

They are added to Holloway’s original charge of first-degree assault – serious bodily injury.

The next scheduled hearing after today’s arraignment is a dispositional conference set for 9 a.m. March 2.
