Harbor Care to host annual Veteran Stand Down

By Christopher Roberson - Staff Writer | Sep 1, 2026

NASHUA — Harbor Care recently announced that more than 50 organizations are expected at the 22nd annual New Hampshire Veteran Stand Down on Sept. 18.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eversource Energy Park, 780 North Commercial St. in Manchester.

“The Stand Down works because so many organizations come together around one goal, making it easier for veterans to find the support they have earned,” said Henry Och, president and CEO of Harbor Care. “We invite organizations across New Hampshire to join us, whether by providing services at the event or helping make those services possible through sponsorship.”

Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available at www.harborcarenh.org/stand-down.

Since the event began in 2004, the Stand Down has made it easier for veterans to connect with services by bringing veteran organizations, government agencies as well as community and nonprofit organizations together in one place. The event is modeled after a military stand down — a time when soldiers stop to rest and resupply.

Harbor Care will be joined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and presenting sponsor Eversource Energy in hosting the event.

“Military veterans have selflessly sacrificed on behalf of us all and are invaluable members of our communities. They make up a significant part of Eversource’s workforce because the experience, dedication, and skills they bring to the job make our teams stronger–as they do for countless businesses and organizations across the state,” said Robert Coates, Eversource’s president of New Hampshire Electric Operations. “We’re thrilled to once again host Harbor Care’s Stand Down and welcome veterans to Energy Park to get the services and support they need and have earned through their dedicated service, for their journey forward.”

There are currently 81,535 veterans living in New Hampshire, according to the state Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services. Within that figure, 34 percent served in the Vietnam War, 23 percent served in Iraq and Afghanistan and 20 percent served in the Gulf War.
