Merrimack police arrest three
MERRIMACK – Merrimack police recently arrested three individuals – Marcello Burgio, Barbara Callahan and Tara Elizabeth Lewis – on a medley of charges.
Burgio, 25, of Manchester, is charged with operating with a suspended registration and operating after suspension.
At 12:58 p.m. Monday, a Merrimack police officer stopped a car on the Daniel Webster Highway for a motor vehicle violation. The officer then made contact with the operator, identified by his New Hampshire driver’s license as Burgio. Upon conducting a records check, it was determined that Burgio’s driver’s license and registration privileges were suspended by the New Hampshire Director of Motor Vehicles on Nov. 6 for default payment.
Burgio was arrested and processed on the aforementioned charges. He was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ninth Circuit Court-Merrimack Division, on Jan. 9 to answer to the charges.
Callahan, 54, of Merrimack, faces charges of habitual offender, operating after suspension subsequent offense, MV – disobeying officer times two, resisting arrest and breach of bail conditions.
At 2:20 p.m. Friday, a Merrimack officer attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Continental Boulevard, as the officer believed the driver of the vehicle was a habitual offender. Once the vehicle stopped, the driver of the vehicle, whose identity was confirmed as Callahan, got out and began to run and walk quickly away from the vehicle to the side of an area business.
After several commands from the officer, the Callahan stopped. Upon conducting a records check, it was confirmed that Callahan’s driver’s license privileges were suspended by the New Hampshire Director of Motor Vehicles on June 5, as well as being certified as a habitual offender.
Callahan was arrested and transported to Merrimack police headquarters where she was processed on the charges. She was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear before the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Jan. 2 to answer to the charges.
Lewis, 53, of Merrimack, faces charges of OUIL-liquor.
At 1:38 a.m. Wednesday, Merrimack police responded to the area of Continental Boulevard for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the investigating officer located the single motor vehicle involved and made contact with the female operator, at the time identified as Lewis. While speaking with Lewis, the officer observed possible signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Upon further investigation by the officer, Lewis was arrested for OUIL-liquor.
Lewis was processed on the charge and released on personal recognizance bail. She is scheduled to appear before the Merrimack Ninth Circuit Court on Jan. 9 to answer to the charge.
