CONCORD – U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan visited the new Merchants Way Development, which has incorporated clean energy technology such as a rooftop solar array and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, as well as energy efficiency measures, into the project. Senator Hassan met with project and clean energy leaders to discuss how innovative, clean energy will continue to boost New Hampshire’s economy.

“Climate change is a threat to our economy, environment, and way of life, and to combat this threat we must all come together to build a stronger clean energy future,” said Senator Hassan. “It was a pleasure to visit the Merchants Way project and see how businesses are implementing clean energy measures that will help lower their energy costs and support our environment. I was proud to work with my colleagues to invest in clean energy in the bipartisan infrastructure law, and I will keep working in the Senate to strengthen our clean energy economy and protect our environment.”

Hassan is working to make investments in clean energy technology. The bipartisan infrastructure package that Senator Hassan helped negotiate and pass into law includes major investments in clean energy, including $73 billion for clean energy transmission, as well as funding for solar energy research and development programs. The bipartisan package also supports domestic battery energy storage development and deployment, technology needed to increase the use of renewable energy sources and eliminate reliability gaps throughout the day. These provisions build on Senator Hassan’s bipartisan Battery Storage Innovation Act – which was previously signed into law.
