MERRIMACK — A longtime local employer and landmark will be closing its doors early in 2026.

According to a WMUR report Thursday, the Anheuser-Busch facility here will be closing after 54 years. The company, according to the report, stated it is in the process to “update and modernize our U.S. manufacturing operations.”

The company is also reportedly ceasing operations at two other facilities in the U.S.: Fairfield, California (closing) and Newark, N.J. (sale).

Between the three facilities, according to the report, there are approximately 475 full-time employees, and the company says they will be offered full-time roles at other operations around the country, as well as receive relocation stipends and necessary training.

The company also, according to the report, says those who do not choose to relocate will receive a severance package, etc.

In 2018, the company stopped the practice of having the famous Clydesdales training on the grounds at the facility.

This weekend the New Hampshire World Christmas Market, an outdoor market featuring food, crafts, live music, a visit from Santa, etc. is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. There are other holiday events/specials at the brewery as well, and now these annual events will be held for the final time.
