Tonya J. Carlton, PharmD., selected for prestigious Carol Emmott Foundation class of 2025
LEBANON – Tonya J. Carlton, PharmD., MHA, BCPS, System Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Dartmouth Health, has been named to the ninth cohort for the Carol Emmott Fellowship class of 2025.
One of only 24 fellows, Carlton joins a select group of accomplished women leaders from diverse areas of the healthcare industry who will be representing some of the nation’s top health organizations in the program. Fellows are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to improving health equity and their potential to effect systemic change within their organizations and beyond.
Carlton joined Dartmouth Health in her current role in January 2022, where she is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and goal planning for all medication formulary and clinical aspects of the medication use processes throughout the system. She also provides oversight of the residency programs accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in order to expand clinical and administrative rotation opportunities throughout the system.
Over the course of 14 months, the Carol Emmott Fellowship elevates women leaders in healthcare by providing them a platform to expand their visibility and equipping them with mentorship, professional networks, and resources to address complex issues in the industry.
The fellowship program will offer Carlton an array of unique opportunities, including customized leadership and influence experiences and access to an expansive network of senior healthcare executives and advocates for health equity. Fellows develop and lead an impact project addressing specific challenges in their fields, empowering them to advance their thought leadership and drive measurable, lasting change in the industry.
“This year’s class of fellows reflects the remarkable talent, resilience, and dedication that women leaders bring to healthcare,” said Anne McCune, CEO of The Carol Emmott Foundation. “These 24 women represent a new wave of transformative leadership committed to creating equitable healthcare systems and governance. We are thrilled to support their growth and amplify their impact in their communities.”
Now in its ninth year, the Fellowship program has a growing network of over 150 alumni, with more than 50% having been promoted during or following the program, and half currently holding C-suite, Senior VP, and President positions. Carol Emmott Fellows continue to implement initiatives to improve health equity and access to care across the nation.
Carlton obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2004 and recently completed a Master of Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in May 2024. The Carol Emmott Fellowship begins in January 2025.
