Duck Derby a success for Rotary Club of Nashua West

By CAROL POWIS - Special to the Sunday Telegraph | Nov 13, 2021

On Oct. 16, the Rotary Club of Nashua West dropped thousands of plastic ducks into the Nashua River to generate funding for its community programs. All proceeds from the event will be donated to prequalified local area nonprofit organizations and qualified high school seniors for scholarships.

This year’s Duck Derby was a huge success, with the club exceeding its goal for 7,000 Duck Adoptions. And with near-perfect weather, those present on the day of the event were able to listen to the oom-pah band the Wunder Kapelle, sponsored by community partner Great American Downtown. In addition, the Rotary Club provided a beer garden area and food trucks. Activities were provided for kids, including a Mural Art Walk, skill-level games and cornhole.

The club would like to thank all of its sponsors, including Brady Sullivan Properties, Hamblett & Kerrigan PA, Naults Powersports, Northpoint Construction Management, Broad Street Planning, Enterprise Bank, Southern NH Health, Ripano Stoneworks, The Telegraph, B&S Integrated Security, Chick-fil-a, Expert Design Solutions LLC, Focused Eye Care, Fox Pest Control, Law Logistics, Millyard Bank, Plodzid & Sanderson PA, St Mary’s Bank, White Mountain IT, Eaton & Berube Insurance, The Pain Relief Center, Edward Jones Investments, Triangle Credit Union, Barry & Honorow PLLC, Franklin Savings Bank, Lavoie Wealth Management and Nashua Area Kayak Exploration Destinations.

This year’s top-prize raffle awarded $2,500 cash to Wendy Hennessy.

The winner of the second-prize of $1,000 cash was Lise Zapatka.

Alexis Cooper won the third cash-prize of $500.

The Rotary Club also wishes to thank everyone who supported the 2021 Rotary Club of Nashua West Duck Derby.
