Mason to be awarded Silver Antelope Award

By Staff | Feb 20, 2021

MANCHESTER – The Daniel Webster Council recently announced that lifetime Scout Leader Rick Mason of Portsmouth, retired director of New Hampshire’s Division of Fire Standards and Training, is to be awarded the prestigious Silver Antelope Award by the national Boy Scouts of America.

The Silver Antelope Award is the regional-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America, made by the National Court of Honor and recognizing outstanding service within one of the four regions of the BSA.

Daniel Webster Council Scout Executive Jay Garee noted, “Rick is one of the most accomplished Scout volunteers in our Council’s history. Rick earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1973 and in the nearly 50 years since, he has provided exceptional volunteer service to the Daniel Webster Council, distinguishing himself as a leader and teacher while freely embracing an Eagle Scout’s duty to extend a helping hand to those who toil up Scouting’s trail, just as others have helped them in their climb. Our shared commitment to “Do a Good Turn Daily” takes on a new meaning when an Eagle Scout like Rick commits to a lifetime path of service to others.”
