Lebanon – Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) and the NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are partnering to offer a new webinar series that uniquely addresses the subject of older adults, their caregivers, and mental health. Created by NAMI New Hampshire, Side by Side launches on Tuesday, September 15 and continues through December with six segments that will discuss issues that can be challenging to seniors and their caregivers. The webinars will be facilitated by Bernie Seifert, LICSW, Director of Adult Programs at NAMI New Hampshire.

D-H experts will speak as panelists on all six Side by Side webinars. For the first three webinars on September 15, September 29 and October 27, NAMI will be joined by Gary Moak, MD, Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Chief of Geriatric Psychiatry and Associate Medical Director at New Hampshire Hospital. The last three webinars on November 10, November 24 and December 1 will be joined by John Broderick, Senior Director of External Affairs at D-H and former Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court, who has dedicated his post-legal career to mental health advocacy with his R.E.A.C.T. Campaign.

“Originally developed for family members and caregivers of older adults who may be experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions, NAMI New Hampshire’s Side by Side program has been praised and embraced over the years by professionals and direct service staff working with older adults,” said Ken Norton, Executive Director of NAMI New Hampshire. “We are pleased to partner with Dartmouth-Hitchcock to bring this wonderful resource to a virtual setting, allowing older adults, their care partners and their families improved access.”
