McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center to host virtual event

By Staff | May 30, 2020

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will resume its monthly Super Stellar Friday series in June, in a new virtual format. At 7 p.m. on June 5, Discovery Center Educator and Astronomy Instructor Dave McDonald will give a live presentation, Unveiling the Mysteries of the Solstice, via a Zoom webinar. McDonald will discuss the causes and significance of the solstice, how this celestial event is related to constellations and zodiac symbols, and more. Following the presentation, McDonald will answer audience questions in a Q & A session. Online registration is required to access the presentation; see the museum’s website, starhop.com, to register and submit questions in advance. This event is free, but donations are welcome.

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, an all-digital, full-dome planetarium and a wide variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs. The engaging, robust educational programs are geared towards families, teens, seniors, students, community groups and lifelong learners. For more information, visit www.starhop.com.
