NASHUA – One student from Nashua Community College and four students from Rivier University were among the 19 recipients of scholarships from nonprofit organization Granite Edvance.

The recipients include Rivier students Barbie Russell, Beldomisa Mendes, Massiel Reed, Veronuska Perez-Vazquez and NCC student Ariel Dussualt.

The scholarship amounts ranged from $1,000 and $1,500 and will be used to help pay for the upcoming summer term. This round of scholarships represents a total investment of $27,000 by Granite Edvance.

“We’re excited to continue supporting students of all backgrounds and pathways in pursuing

their goals,” said Christiana Thornton, president and CEO of Granite Edvance. “We’ve heard from many students that these scholarships truly make a difference in their ability to stay enrolled in school, while also signaling our confidence in them as future members of our workforce and communities.”

Granite Edvance now offers these scholarships three times a year to students attending two-year colleges or trade schools.

“This support has made a meaningful difference for me and my family by easing financial stress

and allowing me to focus more fully on my education,” said NCC student Rosaines Guerrero, who received a scholarship for the 2026 spring semester. “Knowing that others believe

in my goals and future means more than I can express.”

The application period for fall scholarships is open until July 8 with up to $110,000 available.

Granite Edvance launched its scholarship program in 2005. The organization has been working to bolster the program to assist more students, awarding a combined total of $2 million during the past five years.
