NASHUA – The United Way of Greater Nashua, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Nashua, is offering a free community workshop to help individuals stay safe online and protect themselves from increasingly common scams.

The program, “Cybersecurity & Avoiding Scams,” will be held as part of the Confident Online digital literacy series at the YMCA, 24 Stadium Dr.

The workshop will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 2-3 p.m. Registration is available at https://unitedwaynashua.org/digital-literacy/.

This practical, beginner-friendly session will help participants recognize common online, email, text message, and phone scams, protect their accounts and personal information and know what steps to take if they believe they have been targeted.

“Scammers are becoming more sophisticated and are targeting people through email, text messages, social media, and phone calls,” said Sara Ceaser, director of Volunteer and Community Engagement at the United Way of Greater Nashua. “This workshop will provide practical tools and real-world examples to help people spot red flags and feel more confident using technology safely.”

Participants will learn:

-How to identify common online, email, text, and phone scams

-Warning signs that a message or request may be fraudulent

-Best practices for protecting passwords and personal information

-Steps to take if you think you’ve been scammed

-Resources for reporting fraud and getting help

The workshop is open to all skill levels and is especially helpful for older adults, beginners, and anyone interested in improving their online safety. Thank you to Comcast for supporting the Confident Online digital literacy series.
