NASHUA — The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded a $10,000 grant to Harbor Care to expand access to affordable dental care at the Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center.
“Access to dental care is essential to overall health, yet far too many people delay care because of cost,” said Henry Och, president and CEO of Harbor Care. “This support from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation helps ensure our patients can get the dental care they need, when they need it and stay on track with their overall health.”
Access to dental care remains a significant challenge for many low-income individuals and families as well as for persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Without regular care, untreated dental issues can worsen over time, leading to serious health complications. Harbor Care’s dental program helps address these gaps by offering affordable services, accepting Medicaid, Medicare, and most major insurance plans and providing a sliding-fee scale for those without coverage.
“The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation is committed to improving oral health and expanding access to care across our communities,” said Jennifer Beyer, the foundation’s senior manager of Corporate Giving. “We are proud to support Harbor Care’s work to ensure that cost is not a barrier to essential dental services.”
Last year, Harbor Care’s dental clinic served more than 700 patients, with nearly 90 percent of patients either uninsured or covered by public insurance. The program provides a full range of services, including exams, cleanings, fillings, root canals and dentures.
